Abstract This article aims to investigate the antioxidant activity in vitro and protective ellect against H2O2-inducedAbstractoxidative damage of different solvent extracts of "ten varieties geo-authentic traditional Chinese medicine of Guangxi" in HepG2 and L02 cells. Mvethods With "ten varieties geo-authentic traditional Chinese medicine of Guangxi" as theraw materials , their different solvent extracts were prepared with water and 75 % ethanol. The antioxidant activities ofdilerent solvent extracts were evaluated by DPPH, ABTS radical scavenging method and Fe3+ reduction capacitymethod. MTT method was used to evaluate the protective elfect of different solvent extracts on H2O2 induced cell!oxidative damage. Results The aqueous extract of Spatholobus suberectus Dunn exhibited the strongest scavengingability for DPPH and ABTS free radicals. The 75% ethanol extract of Spatholobus suberectus Dunn showed thestrongest reducing ability for Fe3+. The aqueous extracts of Euchresta japonica Hook.f.ex Rege and 75 % ethanolextract of Cassia Twig and Spatholobus suberectus Dunn had the strongest protective elfect on the cell viability of HepG2 cells. The aqueous extracts of Abrus pulchellus subsp cantoniensis ( Hance) Verdcourt and the 75 % ethanolextract of Dimocarpus longan Lour and Curcuma kwangsiensis S.G.Lee et C. F. Liang had the strongest protectiveelfect on the cell viability of L02 cells. Conclusion The antioxidant activity and the protective effect on H2O2-induced cellular oxidative damage of different solvent extracts of " ten varieties geo-authentic traditional Chinesemedicine of Cuangxi" are compared in this study, which provides an experimental basis for the later antioxidantresearch and development of “ ten varieties geo-authentic traditional Chinese medicine of Guangxi"
