Abstract β1,4 galactosyltransferase 1 ( B4GALT1 )is a member of the β1,4 galactosyltransferase family, and itsmain biological funetion is to transfer galactose from uridine diphosphate galactose to terminal β-N-acetylglucosamineresidues on the Golgi and to catalyze the formation of glyeoconjugates. As a transmembrane protein distributed on thecell membrane, B4GALTl is also involved in biological processes such as cell adhesion, immune response, andembryo implantation, and plays an important role in physiological processes such as angiogenesis and apoptosis.Abnormal expression of B4GALTl is associated with the clinical progression of many malignant tumors and plays akey role in carcinogenesis. This article mainly reviews the recent progress of the relevant biological functions of B4GALT1 in malignant tumors and its mechanism of expression regulation, which provids a theoretical basis for theprevention and treatment of malignant tumors.
