AbstractThis paper compares the professional self-concept of nursing and clinical medicineundergraduates and explore the main factors affecting their professional self-concept. A total of 674 full-.time nursing and clinical medicine students in a medical college in (uilin were selected as research subjectby convenienee sampling method, including 362 nursing students and 312 clinical medicine students.Survey were conducted by general data and occupational self-concept scale. 'The research result shows thatscore of professional self-concept of nursing majors was(3.58+0.52 ), that of clinical medical collegemajors was ( 3.47+0.58) , and that of nursing majors was higher than that of clinical medicine majors , with a statistical significance (t= 2.529, P<0,05). linear regression analysis shows that the major, the originof students , the experience of serving as a student leader, and the motivation of choosing a career are thefactors that influence students’ career self-concept. lt can be concluded that universities should inerease theoffering of medical humanities courses, carry out practical teaching as soon as possible, strengthenvocational emotion and value education, improve the professional self-coneept of medical students, andenhance the employment quality
